NaPoWriMo#4: Coast-to-coast-to-coast Quatrain
April 4th, 2009 by Paul Daniel Ash

I drove across my native land
and sought a different place to stand
a more authentic me to be
way out of mid-life’s dull quicksand

A change of scene I thought, for me
would help my blurry eyes to see
the goal I’d long been looking for
the forest I’d missed through all the trees.

Fools say ‘where’er you go, you are’
it’s true though! much as I’d have swore
change would change me, still my ego
yanked my chain as it has before

And thus after a year or so
I pack my bags so I can go
to that place I left long ago
full circle to San Francisco
